This is custom harness from the start. Lois makes the harness any way her customers wants it; blinders or open bridle, special padding, basic or fancy, carriage style, show or pleasure driving. All of her harness is made from the finest harness leather that is hand picked, plus all buckles are solid brass with stainless steel tongues at stress points. The black harness is factory pressure died so it will not fade. |

The Head Stall has a specially designed crown piece that holds the head stall in place. The picture to the right shows an open bridle with Patent leather brow band and nose band. The conches come in a variety of designs. All of the buckles are solid cast brass and all of the stays are hand sewn and can be embellished with brass spots or leather stamps. A unique feature of this head stall is that it is top stitched though out and the crown piece is stitched on a curve to fit the horses head. The brow and nose bands can be embellished with brass or a selection of colored patent leather. The reins are made in carriage style with 2 adjustment at the bit end, brass buckles, double stays, top stitched, and with a “pinky” loop to keep the reins from dragging. |

The Saddle and Breast Collar: The saddle is a unique design developed by Lois over years of harness making. She calls it an Alligator style which allows the saddle to transfer the weight on the saddle to the sides of the back and not on the withers. She uses a solid brass “miniature” pug seat with a fancy check hook, small brass turrets, and all brass clip and dees. The saddle extends lower on the sides of the horse comfort and stability; and is very well padded so it can be used with or with out a harness pad. The saddle comes with either shaft holders or marathon holders. Saddles can be embellished with either patent leather or appliqué. The saddle and girth is padded and covered with the finest garment leather. All leather edges are dressed with edge dressing and are top stitched through out. The breast collar is embellished to match the saddle and is dipped in the front so as not to press on the horses wind pipe. The breast collar is also heavily padded and covered with fine garment leather. The neck strap comes with double stays and padded were it crosses the neck. The breast collar comes with either solid or buckle traces. The hand made comfort harness pads for the custom and standard harness are also available through Lois at Tanglewood. |

The Breeching and Back Strap are the same fine workmanship as the rest of the harness. The breeching strap is also embellished to match the saddle and breast collar and is also well padded and covered with fine garment leather. The breeching and back strap are also top stitched and cast brass buckles are used through out. The crupper is well padded for the horses comfort. |
